What's up?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Well, that's not entirely true. I've been in a bit of a funk since the job loss. I realize it's not my fault, and that it wasn't personal, but it still feels like crap to be out of work yet again. The boyfriend doesn't seem to get why I'm down about it, so I'll just whine about it here and let him believe that I'm over it.
When I lived in Houston, I had 2 jobs - 1 for 5 years, (Planned Parenthood, still to this day my very favorite job ever), and the other for 3 years (my second favorite job of all time). Since moving back to Dallas, I haven't been so fortunate. The first job I had upon my return was great. The VP actually interviewed me in Houston at the airport, and hired me on the spot. But just a week after I started, I was informed that they were going to be relocating to Florida sometime in the next few months. Great. I just got here. So that one lasted 3 months. Then I got hired on at another place a few weeks later - and ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis approximately a month in. Then The Teen did something awful and crazy while I was sick, and I ended up being out of the office for her and my illness a combined total of about 3 weeks. They weren't thrilled about that, so they let me go. Can't blame them I guess, but I didn't get sick on purpose, and my daughter needed me. So screw that.
Another job followed that one, with a bunch of severely sexist, inappropriate men, who weren't very nice to me. I was glad to leave that one behind. A few temp things here and there, but nothing permanent. Found a great office job that I liked, but it was only for a few months, filling in for their regular admin who was having twins. Then there was the credit union, which I liked, but my two bosses were like nite and day. One was about as bright as a black hole, and the other was scary and intimidating. I left there for personal reasons. Another temp job, followed by the one job I hated the most in all my life, followed by more temp assignments. When I got the job at Media Cart, I felt like I was finally home. And I was, for nearly a year. My longest stint in one place since moving back.
I get calls and emails from recruiters almost every day. I'm not worried that I won't find a job, and for the moment, we're ok. I just want to feel useful, and I haven't felt that for the last couple of weeks.
In other news - the kitten is great. Uncle K, our vet friend, paid him a home visit, gave him his shots and tested him for all the icky things cats get, and he received a clean bill of health. He's adorable and feisty and as soon as I can find the usb cord for my camera, I'll put up some pics. I'm guessing it's in a box. That's where everything is at the moment. Dammit. But I love our new place. I still need to get it organized, but I've been less than motivated to do so lately. I've been able to spend more time with the kids since I'm not working. I'm training to do sound at ComedySportz. That should be a hoot. I have two interviews scheduled for this week, and one of them sounds very promising. Cross your fingers.
Hope everyone out there is doing well.
